The Cpl Bernard McCarren Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians is an Irish Catholic fraternal organization and has been active in the Newark, DE community since 2003.
Regular activities include marching in area parades (Wilmington St. Patrick's Day Parade, "Unofficial" Newark St. Patrick's Day Parade, Newark Memorial Day Parade, etc.), manning booths promoting our Division at area events (Newark Nights, Holy Family Summerfest, etc.), donating our time and energy for community causes (Sunday Breakfast Mission Coat Drive, "Canning of the Green" food drives, etc) and fundraising.
Through our fundraising efforts, such as working concessions at UD Football games and selling hot dogs and sodas at Boscov's, we have contributed thousands of dollars to local churches and area organizations that benefit the less fortunate, including the Food Bank of Delaware.
In addition to these activities, we meet monthly to plan and organize ongoing and future fundraising, outreach and social activities in a formal but fun atmosphere.
